Prime Wardrobe Review: Trying on Amazon Clothes Before You Buy
I’ve recently been taking to Amazon for a lot of clothes shopping. Browsing online is sometimes a lot easier than exploring rows of racks, and as a Prime member, I enjoy free two-day shipping so I get almost instant gratification of my purchases. However, shopping for clothes online in general can always be a bit nerve-racking since you cannot try on the styles before charging your card. At least, until now!
Amazon recently launched Prime Wardrobe, a try-on service for select fashion items. You fill a bag of up to 8 items, which gets sent to you completely free as a Prime member. Once you receive your package, you have one week to try on the clothes and decide what you want to keep or return. You only get charged for what you keep, and they include all the return shipping materials in the package for you. It’s a super simple and streamlined process, and a great way to be able to try on clothes before pulling the trigger.
A couple things to note: even though it’s a Prime member exclusive, your try-on package doesn’t come in the usual two days. It ships standard and took about a week to arrive. It’s also important to point out that Prime Wardrobe shouldn’t be treated like a clothing rental service. You’re only allowed to try on the clothes at home in order to decide what you want to keep. If anything you return appears worn, or the tags have been removed, you’ll be charged. Also… remember the one week window. If you keep your clothes past the one-week, you’ll be charged for everything.

One of the pieces I decided to keep from my recent Prime Wardrobe order was this Daily Ritual T-Shirt Dress in a beautiful olive color that’s perfect for fall. Since it takes a while for it to cool down here in Vegas, I wanted more fall clothes that aren’t necessarily warm. This is perfect! And once it does start cooling down, I can throw tights underneath and wear it through winter.
Next up, I tried on a Daily Ritual Long Sleeve V-Neck T-Shirt. I feel like I need more basics in my wardrobe that I can mix and match, and so this seems like a staple that I’ll be able to pair with a lot of items.
These jeans, though, are the perfect example of why Prime Wardrobe is a great idea. These Jessica Simpson Kiss Me Skinny Jeans were super comfy with a flexible feel, and distressed detailing that was reinforced on the inside so that rips wouldn’t become bigger with time. I thought that was so smart, and I love how these fit me. But then I discovered the ultimate deal-breaker for me: fake pockets! That wasn’t mentioned in the product description, so I’m really glad I had a chance to try these on without buying them first.
Another item that I’m glad I tried before purchasing was the Daily Ritual Seamless Legging 2-Pack. They got great reviews, and I loved the high waist. When I tried them on, they were super comfortable and I loved the feel of the material. However, I wear leggings as pants, and sometimes with tops that don’t necessarily cover my butt. So when I saw these leggings have a bit of sheerness to them if you bend certain ways, I made the decision to return them.
The Daily Ritual Long-Sleeve Hooded Pullover was another win for me. It’s a thinner sweater which will be great as it gets cooler, but won’t be too heavy. I can totally see myself lounging around the house or running errands in this, but it’ll be easy to dress up with some dark wash jeans and boots.
After I decided what I was going to keep and return, I just logged on to my Amazon account and there was a page where I could tell them what to charge me for. I popped the package of returns back in the mail and that was that!
I like the Prime Wardrobe process much better than buying clothes and then dealing with returns, because the money never leaves my account for products I don’t end up liking. That’s so much nicer than having to wait the 7-10 business days for my refund after they receive the return and process it at the warehouse. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
