New Drugstore Makeup & Beauty Launches: April 2018
I feel like April was the fastest month of 2018 so far! I seriously can’t believe we’re almost halfway through the year. Right now, a lot of us are stuck in between winter and spring weather, though we’ve had a few warm Vegas days already. Even still, the spring trends are going hard at the drugstore. This month, we’re seeing a lot of highlight-focused products, a ton of iridescent shades and an explosion of color.
Let’s take a peek at what new drugstore makeup and beauty has hit shelves this month. Anything catch your eye? Let me know in the comments if you want to see in-depth reviews of any of these products!
RIMMEL
Rimmel Magnif’eyees Colour Edition Eye Contouring Palette ($6.39)
A new Magnif’eyes Eye Contouring Palette is now available from Rimmel, and this time it’s all about color. The Colour Edition of the palette has brighter shades than its neutral counterparts, with pops of bold gold, blue and green to add some fun to your look. I like the original Magnif’eyes palette very much, so I’m hoping this has just as much pigmentation and blendability. My one gripe about this palette just from looking at it though— for something that is specifically calling itself the “Colour Edition,” it still leans mostly neutral with many browns and mauves. However, on the flip side, this probably makes it more wearable and easier to create a complete look!
MILANI
Milani Hypnotic Lights Eye Topper ($11)
These just released Monday, so your only option is to buy them on the brand’s website until they hit stores. These shimmering eye toppers can be worn on top of shadow or alone for a more subtle wash of glitter. It dries down to a lustrous finish and has a duo chrome effect that are sure to make your eyes stand out. I think these would be neat for all-over lid shades, or halo eyes. While they’re $11 individually, you can get all 5 at a discounted price of $48 if you buy the bundle, which includes a free makeup bag.
Milani Hypotic Lights Lip Topper ($10.99)
The lip toppers of the same collection, on the other hand, are available only at Ulta Beauty. There are six lip toppers currently available, which offer iridescent shimmer that catches the light for a dazzling effect.
NYX
NYX just expanded their Away We Glow line with three new products to help you highlight like nobody’s business. My only complaint? The prices! I mean, are we at Sephora, ya’ll?
NYX Away We Glow Liquid Booster ($16.99)
I really like highlighting drops like this Liquid Booster, which can be added into your moisturizer, foundation or used as a liquid highlight on top of your makeup. They actually come in shades that should compliment all skin tones, including a white chromatic pearl shade, all the way down to a deep bronze.
NYX Away We Glow Strobing Cream ($15.99)
The new Strobing Cream is supposed to both moisturize and luminize all in one. Available in gold and pink, it’s supposed to be worn either before makeup or just alone for a fresh faced glow.
NYX Away We Glow Eyeshadow Palette ($21.99)
The Away We Glow Collection also just added two new eyeshadow palettes that I love the looks of! There are two available: Lovebeam is a neutral with some soft plums and golds, while Hooked On Glow is a bit more warm and summery. I’m dying to dip into these, and hope that they turn out better than the I Love You So Mochi https://slashedbeauty.com/nyx-i-love-you-so-mochi-electric-pastels-eyeshadow-palette-review/ palettes.
JORDANA
Jordana Cosmic Glow Holographic Lip Gloss ($4.99)
Here we are with another product claiming to be holographic… but is it real holo? From the photos, this lip gloss only looks iridescent, as per usual. That’s not to say they’re not pretty, though! The Cosmic Glow Holographic Lip Glosses are only five bucks, which allows you to try the trend without investing too much into it. I’m dying to try the Chromatic Peach and Galactic Blue shades.
L.A. COLORS
L.A. Colors Personality Eyeshadow ($7)
L.A. Color Cosmetics can be found online, at your local Dollar General and other dollar stores… but that doesn’t mean they’re #basic! The four new Personality palettes give you a fun color scheme to work with no matter what mood you’re in. There are ten shadows in each palette with mattes, shimmer and satin finishes. I’m particularly loving the look of Frisky and Feisty… what about you? These just landed across my desk so let me know if you want swatches.
Colour Pop at Ulta Beauty
So, was it just me, or were we all under the impression that Colour Pop was going to permanently be available at Sephora? Nope, turns out it was only a limited edition holiday run. But now, you can find them at Ulta Beauty! I think this is a much better fit for the brand anyway, and hope they actually stick around. You can now find some of the staples, like Super Shock Shadows, as well as their new Double Entendre Pressed Shadow Palette. However, they also have a few Ulta Beauty exclusive bundles available, including:
Wicked Trick Lip Bundle ($16)
Shades Include: Tight Fit Ultra Glossy Lip, Echo Park Ultra Satin Lip, Top 8 Ultra Matte Lip
Trifecta Lip Bundle ($16)
Shades Include: My Jam Ultra Glossy Lip, Reign Ultra Satin Lip, Knotty Ultra Matte Lip
First Charmer Super Shock Shadow Foursome ($18)
Shades Include: Truth (satin), Fluffy (ultra glitter), Brady (soft matte), and Seeker (matte)
Dream Fever Super Shock Shadow Foursome ($18)
Shades Include: Jinxie (ultra glitter), Helio Goodbye (glitter), Elixir (matte), and No Promises (matte)
