Sunday Shout Out: New Friends & Margaritaville
While I don’t normally post on Sundays, I’ve been itching to start a weekend series here on the blog for a long time. Somewhere where I can just share what’s going on in my life, extra products I’m loving, random thoughts and so forth. While beauty blogging is delightful, and I wouldn’t want any other job, posts like these can help me share on a more casual level. Is it something I’ll continue regularly? We’ll see.
Now that I’m finally settled in to our new home here in Las Vegas, I’ve been making a conscious effort to go out and insert myself in the local blogging community. Luckily, I already had some acquaintances in the area through social media, like Stephanie from All Things Beautiful XO and Melissa from The Daily Nail who have made the transition from the LA crowd to the Vegas crowd a lot easier.
Last Monday, I joined a group of Vegas lifestyle influencers for margaritas and apps at Margaritaville. It was my first time there, and I was super surprised with the vibe. Margaritaville has it’s own themed mini-casino within the Flamingo with a DJ, tropical decor and of course– amazing tiki bars. I even tried my hand at video blackjack, putting $5 in and winning another $10! It was going to be a great night.
We had our mixer within the restaurant, and we all ordered our drinks. I went with the Last Mango In Paris, which was the perfect balance between sweet and tangy. It wasn’t long before the appetizers started showing up, and lordy was I ready to dig in. The first and favorite among the crowd were the Volcano Nachos. I’ll admit, I’m not usually a nacho kinda girl, but I couldn’t stop with these! Spicy, cheesy, and guacamole-y? Sign me up any day.
Every half hour, the restaurant had a quick song and dance performed by some guys on stilts, which kept the mood light. I loved getting to know more local bloggers, as well as the brands that sponsored the event! We got a few samples from COOLA, which is a sun care brand with a range of summer-friendly products. I’m excited to try the Rosilliance BB Cream, which is SPF 30 and organic. I’ll let you all know if it ends up being a high-end hero!
I wasn’t familiar with Verb before the event, but their Sea Shampoo and Sea Conditioner seem perfect for beachy waves. They’re supposed to create body and soft texture with a weightless hold, and they’re sold at Sephora for $14 a bottle… not bad! I can report back if you are all interested. Oh, and that bangle bracelet in the photo? It’s from a local Etsy shop called Modern Siren! So cute, and only $12 in her shop.
I had a great time and can’t wait to share more adventures with the ladies I met as I explore the city with them!
Loveee hanging with you darlin!
