FINALLY: Curly Hair Emojis
This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Dove Hair, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #LoveYourCurls #pmgdove http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV
Over the past few years, I’ve started to embrace my curls more and more and have laid off the straightener. They always say we want what we don’t have, and growing up I did everything I could to achieve sleek, straight hair. I did chemical treatments (which did nothing but fry my hair), invested hundreds in the best straighteners and smoothing serums, even sewed in straight extensions! For some reason I always thought that having straight hair would make me prettier, and so I killed my hair trying to change my natural look.
I got tired of the damaged hair, hours of straightening it, and frankly tired of thinking I needed to change the way I look. Now, I only straighten my hair when necessary for certain styles, and have developed a regimen so that I can show off healthy, happy curls. They’re just another unique feature about me that I can play up to express myself.
Talking about expressing myself, who else uses emojis endlessly to express yourself online and in texts? I’d go as far as to say that I attach an emoji to way over half of my messages. It was pretty revolutionary when they finally came out with multi-racial emojis last year, which is awesome since I’m a little tanner than the default white girl… but what they forgot was to represent us curly girls! Have you noticed that all the emojis have straight hair? Straight hair isn’t one size fits all!
That’s why I’m so tickled that Dove Hair released the Dove Love Your Curls Emojis, the first emoji keyboard designed to represent curly girls everywhere! They’re all new emoji people with several curly styles that you can use in texts, the FB messaging app, programs, email and more. They also give you options as far as skin tone and hair color to really customize how you represent yourself, and they’re just downright cute!
Finally, us curly haired girls can express ourselves accurately and actually have emoticons that represent us. Score another point for the brand that always tries to be as inclusive as possible. Dove Hair also partnered with Twitter, so each time women and girls share why they #LoveYourCurls, Dove curly hair emojis will appear in the tweet.
You can download the Dove Love Your Curls Emojis in the App Store and Google Play Store to show you #LoveYourCurls
