5 Neutral Eyeshadow Palettes for Every Budget
A good neutral eyeshadow palette is a must-have in every makeup collection. Luckily, there is no shortage of neutral palettes available… each one slightly unique in their own way.
You can find some amazing go-tos no matter what your budget is. Today, I’m sharing five of the best neutral eyeshadow palettes in my own collection, ranging from $3 to $40.
1. Tarte Tartelette in Bloom Palette ($39)
If you’re looking for a splurge, this is the one that’s actually worth it. Actually, I’ve seen the Tarte Tartelette in Bloom palette featured twice during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale for 50% off, in which case it was a steal! Tarte makes my absolute favorite eyeshadow formula— they’re incredibly pigmented, creamy and consistent. With twelve super blendable shades and a great balance between tones and finishes, this small palette packs a punch. The packaging is also sturdy and the large mirror makes it perfect as an on-the-go makeup must-have.
2. BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Ultimate Neutrals Palette ($28)
The Ultimate Neutrals Palette from BH Cosmetics is going to give you the best value, if you don’t mind the size of it (it’s thin but large!). This really is an ultimate palette— there are so many options for practically any neutral look you can think of. I’d say the palette mostly leans warm-toned, though there are two solid rows of cool shades to play with as well. The quality of this palette far exceeds the price, especially because you can usually snag this on sale (Use code SlashedBeauty on the brand’s website for 10% off!). The mattes are pigmented with a nearly creamy consistency, and the satin and metallic shades are silky and high-impact.
3. Catrice Basic Bae Eyeshadow Palette ($14.99)
The Basic Bae palette is new in my collection, but the quality really surprised me! This makes a great every day palette with just enough shade options for several go-to looks. I really appreciate the balance of mattes to shimmer shades, and it’s really easy to mix and match with the color selection. The mattes are smooth and blend easily, and you can get even more of a statement with the satins when applying wet.
4. NYX Ultimate Warm Neutrals Palette ($12.58)
The NYX Warm Neutrals Palette has consistently been the top-rated drugstore eyeshadow palette at retailers like Target, Ulta Beauty and Amazon for the past few years according to customer reviews. While I admit that NYX shadows can be hit-or-miss from me, this is a solid palette— though I’d only buy it for the Amazon price of under $13. I don’t think it’s worth what Target and Ulta charge for it, about $18, due to the quality. The shades are definitely workable though out of all the palettes on this list, this is the one you’ll need to layer up for good pigmentation. I’ve gotten some gorgeous warm neutral glam looks from it though, so don’t count it out!
5. Wet n Wild Walking on Eggshells Palette ($3.29)
If you want to go back to basics, it doesn’t get more classic than the Wet n Wild Walking on Eggshells palette. This eyeshadow quad gives you the bare minimum for a full, subtle neural eyeshadow look. I’d say that these shades cater to more of a day-time, lighter look, but you could definitely get a more smokey vibe by using the dark brown all over the lid, too. It’s a pocket-sized palette that’s perfect for the minimalist.
