You don't need to break the bank on expensive makeup for an expensive appearance.
Aside from finding the right products, here are a few tips and tricks that can help your drugstore makeup look high-end.
Making sure your skin is prepped (exfoliated and hydrated sufficiently) will make a big difference in how your products sit on your skin and, ultimately, perform. After exfoliating, I use a hyaluronic acid serum and SPF moisturizer.

A huge struggle with drugstore makeup is the lack of testers to shade match, as well as limited shade selections. Don't be afraid to mix your own match between two shades, which may still be more affordable than a high end foundation or concealer!
Take time to blend your makeup well-- whether that be your foundation or your eyeshadow. Avoiding harsh outlines helps your makeup appear more neat and expertly applied, thus expensive.
Using the right brushes, and quality brushes, makes a big difference in the appearance of your makeup. You don't need to spend a lot to find great brushes of all shapes and uses. Some brands I love are BH Cosmetics, Practk, e.l.f. and Real Techniques.

If you have dry skin, matte products may look flat, flaky and feel uncomfortable. If you have oily skin, dewy products that don't set may slide off your face, or you may need to use more setting products. Get familiar with your skin type to seek products that are more likely to work for you.
