I already owned my iPad, so in total I saved over $900 on the bike, and save $30/mo using the app, but still get to enjoy the most popular instructors and fitness community out there.
As an app rider, I do miss out on a few things including the leaderboard (ranking you in real time among other riders), and scenic rides.
However, competition isn't a motivator for me, and I can still effectively track my goals with my heart rate monitor and the bike's native computer.
