Winter 2014/2015 Walmart Beauty Box Review

Winter Walmart Beauty Box Review | Slashed Beauty

Last week, I received my Winter Walmart Beauty Box. This is a subscription service that just started last season, and costs only $5 a quarter. The box is dedicated to delivering the season’s best new drugstore beauty products, and two versions are sent out per quarter. I got a great box for fall, so I was hoping for another fun selection for Winter.

Again, I seem to have received the better of the two boxes. I was nervous when a reader told me that they got a disappointing box, but I was pleased with the contents of mine!

    1. L’Oreal OleoTherapy Oil Infused Shampoo & Conditioner (Deluxe Sample Size, Regular Retail: $6)

These are part of L’Oreal’s sulfate-free system and are supposed to offer intense nutrition and silky hair. They are infused with a 6 flower oil blend that is great for dry hair and won’t weigh it down. These samples are larger than your typical travel sizes, but are still plane-friendly at 2 oz. I’ll be going on a road trip right after New Year’s, and these will definitely be packed with me.

    2. Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder (Sample Size, Regular Retail: $7)
This pressed powder is super lightweight and is supposed to give your skin a soft matte finish without looking cakey. The powder is on the sheer side, most likely meant for setting makeup as opposed to using as a powder foundation (at least for those who like heavier coverage like myself). The sample is pressed onto the cardboard and there’s enough for about two to three uses. We also got a $1 coupon for any Maybelline face product!

    3. Olay Fresh Effects Everything Off Make-Up Removal Wet Cloths (Sample Size, Regular Retail: $4)

These are a handy addition to the box, as I can always use some extra makeup remover. These towelettes are soft on the skin and smell SO good. They’re supposed to be strong enough to even take off waterproof mascara. I have a hard time finding makeup removers that I’m not sensitive to, so I’m excited to try these.

    4. Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream (Sample Size, Regular Retail: $12)

BB cream isn’t just for the face. This body lotion is lightly pigmented to give the same effect for the rest of your body. This tube says it’s meant for all light skin tones, and has a light pinkish beige hue. It’s a bit light for my arms but, since it’s winter, it matches my legs and stomach which haven’t been exposed to the light for a while. Aside from being hydrating, it is supposed to illuminate and even tone as well as firming skin.

    5. Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Maple Kiss (Full Size, Regular Retail: $5)

This is one of the new shades in The Buffs collection, and I am so stoked this was in the box! I am a huge fan of Maybelline lipsticks and this shade is perfect for winter. Maple Kiss is a warm nude shade that has apricot undertones. Plus, the lipstick alone covers the cost of the box… woo!

    6. Nivea Cocoa Butter Body Lotion (Sample Packet, Regular Retail: $7)
Lastly, we received a small sample packet of this ultra hydrating lotion along with a $1 coupon for any Nivea body lotion. Cocoa Butter is perfect for winter hydration, since it sinks deep into the skin to moisturize and heal. It smells awesome and I’ve heard it works wonders at getting rid of stretch marks! This lotion also has Vitamin E for extra nutrients for your skin this season.

I’d say I’m pretty happy with what we received. For only five dollars, we got some decently sized samples, and the full size lipstick won me over. I’m still convinced that this is a good subscription to discover and try what’s hot on the drugstore beauty scene before you buy it for yourself! I know there were a few people who had to wait forever for their last box, but I think Walmart is still ironing out the kinks in the new service. Either way, I’m excited for the next one which will be spring themed! You can sign up for the Walmart Beauty Box, which comes four times per year, on their website.

How do you think Walmart’s doing with this service?

    1. I love these boxes. Every time I get one, I go to Walmart.com and start looking up the prices on the items. It’s consistently about $20 worth of products if I were to purchase them outright. The different lip product included in each box I’ve gotten is usually around $6 alone. DEFINITELY worth the $5 shipping charge!

    2. So I sign up a week ago and I haven’t heard anything since it said winter box online but the never sent me a email of order confirmed or anything I call and emailed them but got no rely

    3. Disappointed. Just signed up today, and my email said I’m getting the winter box. I wanted the spring box. Booo! Not a good start, Walmart.

    4. NIce! My box just came in, since I signed up very late. I got a mini Dove body wash, mini Aveeno lotion, Burts Bees make removing wipes, and a full sized covergirl lip gloss. It also 4 foil samples of shampoo and conditioner. I love it!

      • I’m not sure if you would still get winter since they mailed all the boxes out at the end of December. Spring will most likely be coming at the end of Feb/beginning of March! They don’t publish a schedule but you get billing notifications that clues you in on when they might ship.

    5. I’ve never seen a cardboard sample for powder–that’s so weird! I’ve been wanting to try their Dream Wonder powder, though. I never got to try the Dream Matte powder before that was discontinued and I heard this was really similar.
