What to Wear in Paris: Vacation Outfit Ideas

If you’ve been keeping up with me on Instagram, then you know I spent last week in Paris! We had a blast, and I’ll have a more in-depth post about everything we did on our trip later this week. For now, I want to share my Paris outfit details since I’ve been getting questions about almost everything I wore in the photos I’ve already shared.

Since we were visiting the City of Love between the end of summer and beginning of fall, I was a bit stumped on how to dress for the weather while also feeling fashionable. In the end, I felt that I brought with me a carefully curated vacation wardrobe that was both comfortable and stylish.

If you’re wondering what to wear in Paris in September, keep scrolling to get some vacation outfit ideas from what I wore. For reference, we were working with weather in the low-mid 70s during the day, relatively humid at about 40-60% and a daily itinerary that included a lot of walking around and time spent outdoors.

The first day of our trip brought clear skies and just over 11 miles walked. We were discovering the city by foot to get our bearings, and even ended up running into hometown friends on the street! On this day, I opted for denim shorts with this Double Circle Buckle Belt I found on SHEIN for only $6. It definitely gives a nod to the popular Double G buckle belt from Gucci without being a total knockoff. The top is also from SHEIN (a lot of what I packed was hauled from the site actually) — the Mock-Neck Pleated Ruffle Armhole Top. I absolutely love this top, since it’s simple and easy to style but the ruffle detail gives it a really neat silhouette. It was perfect for the warm day. I also wore these skinny cat-eye style sunglasses that I thought looked very Parisian, but Adam was not a fan and kept poking fun at me. He said I looked like the Take On Me Vine girl and I can’t unsee it now. ☹️

The next day was another warm one, and a long one at that. I found this cute button-front midi sundress on Amazon that was so easy to wear. The two pockets in front also came in handy for holding tickets or slipping my phone away when my hands were full. The fabric felt similar to a thick linen which was breathable but not too flimsy. My feet were a bit sore from the previous day, so I opted for wearing my Arcopedico Ls shoes, which are some of my favorites for traveling. They mimic a barefoot feel since they are so lightweight, but give good support and flexibility for walking around.

On Thursday, we were set to visit Versailles— a grand palace that is nothing short of extraordinarily ornate. I wanted to dress up and take some striking photos here, but still stay comfortable enough to explore and commute through the city on foot and by Metro. I found this structured Mock-neck Puff Sleeve Dip Hem Belted Top on, you guessed it, SHEIN! There’s a lot going on from the pointed puff shoulders, to the waist belt and high-low hem, but it’s perfect for being the statement of the outfit. Since it was more overcast during our visit, I wore it with a pair of black leggings from Lauren Conrad, which are my favorite leggings ever. They’re a thicker material so you can’t see through them, and they’re breathable for day-long wear. This was by far our most active day, clocking in at 12.7 miles and nearly 30,000 steps!

Finally, our last day was much more laid back. We let ourselves sleep in, and spent the early afternoon picking up pastries, cookies, wine, and souvenirs. We then head back to the hotel and indulged in our haul of confections. For our short shopping excursion, I wore this V-neck Buttoned Front Flutter Sleeve Top with a pair of Ankle Skinny Jeans from KUT from the Kloth. Something to note: this top is a lot more red than the burgundy shade it appears to be on the website. This was the only day I wore my white pointed flats since we weren’t out very long. This particular pair actually has cushioned insoles that were much appreciated since my feet were sore from the long walks earlier in the week.

Not only was I able to stay comfortable for our jam-packed itinerary, but I love how these outfits ended up looking in photos. There’s something about Paris that makes you want to dress up and be your most stylish self, and I certainly felt that way while touring the city.

Tell me in the comments: which vacation outfit of mine did you like best?

Wonderful romantic casual style In Paris !

“Que diras-tu ce soir, pauvre âme solitaire,
Que diras-tu, mon coeur, coeur autrefois flétri,
À la très belle, à la très bonne, à la très chère,
Dont le regard divin t’a soudain refleuri?”

Great choices and you look chic in every one of them. I haven’t been to Paris in a long time and at that time (early spring) everyone was wearing scarfs with everything.

Ugh, paris is gorgeous! The architectures, the art, the fashion, the FOOD! 🙂 I don’t have a passport and my husband does’t want to take me out of the country (I tend to freak out when things don’t go as planned, but I’m getting better). I am hoping he will go with me to Italy one of these days.

Lovely photos. I like the one with you wearing a dress and sneakers, very Parisienne. Last time I visited Paris was 2000 so definitely a lot has changed.
