Trend to Try: Ombré Blush

With Spring fast approaching, I’m so glad to see more color in recent makeup launches. There’s one trend that’s popping up like crazy, and it’s totally growing on me: ombré blush. While in the past, you had to create the look with two to three separate blushes, brands are finally catching on and making it easy to recreate at home on a budget.

The awesome thing about ombré blushes is that they’re versatile, all-in-one products. As they fade from a light shade to a deeper, complimentary color, you can get the ombré effect in one sweep of the brush.

    Ombré Blushes from the Drugstore:

Hard Candy Glow All the Way Blush // $7.35
    Wet n Wild Ombré Blush // $4.99
    essence blush up! // $3.99
    NYX Ombré Blush // $9.99

When applying, the deepest shade should be focused on the apples of the cheeks, while the lighter color rests toward the top of your cheek bones as a highlight. Don’t feel pinned down by makeup rules though— switch things up by trying out one shade on the apples of your cheeks and working the other shade up toward your temples, like I did below with the NYX Ombré Blush in Sweet Spring.

When I do an ombré blush look on myself, it’s usually the statement of my look– hence it being so strong. You can totally keep it subtle though, and blend it out for a softer appearance.

I also love taking ombré blushes with me traveling, because they act as three shades in one compact! If the pan is big enough, you can get away with grabbing just one shade at a time on either end, and swirling the two together for your third in-between color.

I’ll admit– I thought the whole ombré thing was just a flash in the pan, but it’s obvious that the gorgeous gradiant is here to stay and will keep working its way back into the hottest trends.

What do you think of the ombré blush look?

    1. I have a couple of the Hard Candy ombre blushes, and I really like them. They are great for when I’m in a hurry: I can have blush and highlighter in one swipe. The Nyx ones look beautiful, and I really want to try them.
