Review & Swatches: Coastal Scents Cairo Go Palette

I can wholeheartedly say that I prefer working with eyeshadow palettes over singles (unless housed in a Z palette). It’s just so much more convenient to work off one compact than having to pull out a ton of colors to create a look. One palette I’ve been reaching for on the daily is the Coastal Scents Cairo Go Palette. I got this in my September Boxycharm and it has been getting a lot of use this month.

The Go Palettes house twelve dime-sized eyeshadows and are all based on cities— there are six total in the collection. The palettes are a little bigger than the size of my palm, and include a full mirror on the inside. Cairo is the most neutral, inspired by the sandy dunes and Egyptian tapestry of the city, including both subtle and smokey shades to create a ton of different fall looks.

I will admit— even though I am a long time fan of Coastal Scents, I wasn’t expecting much from this palette. It looked pretty ordinary as far as neutral palettes go, and at first glance reminded me of the mass produced 120- and 88-color palettes. I’m happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised with the shadows’ performance!

The shades were all equally pigmented, smooth, and easy to blend and build up. Even the lighter shades held their own against my tan skin. Using my favorite primer from Milani, the color lasted all day with hardly any creasing, and looked just as strong as when I first applied it in the morning.

I’m pleased with the color selection in the Cairo Go Palette, as there is a range of undertones, dark and light shades, and finishes that let you create many different looks. I’ve done simple every-day neutral looks, as well as sultry fall smokey eyes (channeling my inner Cleopatra!) with this one palette. I would say it is perfect for travel and on the go application… I guess that’s why it’s called a “Go” palette, after all! Literally the only con I can think of is the fact that the pans are smaller than I am used to, so it may be hard to pick up color with a larger brush.

For around $9, this is a really handy little palette that is convenient and easy to work with. You can find it on Coastal Scents’ website.

What palette do you normally take with you on the go?

Pretty! I always travel with a ton of makeup…which defeats the purpose of travel palettes most likely lol

Overall the quality of the shadows look pretty good based on your swatches. The shade range is nice but I think I have too many palettes with similar options.

I’m glad to see this review, as I’ve wondered about the ‘go’ palettes, and wasn’t sure if they’d be like the 120 palettes that are sometimes hit or miss. I love the colors!

I was expecting them to be like the 120 palettes but each shade was on point!

Lol you’ve asked me that before, Cindy! I’m not sure what more to offer than the swatches and what I said in the post– pigmentation is great across the board.
