REVIEW: Maybelline FaceStudio Master Glaze Blush Sticks

posted in: Makeup

I’ve been really partial to cream products over powder ones, lately. Perhaps it’s because my skin has been feeling drier, even with the climate change. There is a serious lack of good cream products in the drugstore, though. Luckily, Maybelline has helped fill that void, first with the release of the Color Tattoo shadows a few years back, and now with the FaceStudio Master Glaze Blush Sticks.

The Maybelline FaceStudio Master Glaze Blush Sticks are twist up cream blushes that set with a powder finish. The three shades I have are Just-Pinched Pink, Pink Fever, and Plums Up.

Just-Pinched Pink is a light, baby pink that offers a very natural, flushed look.

Pink Fever is a hot pink that’s great for summer. This can be worn bright and bold, or more sheered out.

Plums Up is a mahogany purple that can either be used as a blush or cream contour.

These three shades all contain fine shimmer particles, but they’re not overwhelming when applied to the face. The formula is really nice on the skin. They glide onto the face and offer great pigmentation, but can be blended out for a sheer and natural look. Even with a heavy hand, they feel very lightweight and don’t seem to interfere with any other products I’ve applied to my face. I really like the twist-up format; I typically just apply the stick straight to my cheeks, then use my fingers to blend.

My biggest gripe is the wear time. While wearing a heavy application, I’m lucky if I get up to six hours; usually it’s faded by four. I definitely suggest setting with either a powder blush or a translucent powder on top, which might buy you an extra hour.

Also, you don’t get a lot of product for a $9 blush. If this is your primary blush, you’ll be spending a lot in the long run with repurchases.

Even with the couple downsides, I really love working with these for a quick, glowing face. You can buy them in drugstores and at Ulta for $8.99.

If you’ve tried these, what’s your favorite shade in the collection?

I keep seeing these in the store, and I just haven’t broken down and bought any yet. I don’t know what’s holding me back, because they look great!

Except with MUFE products I always have to add a powder on top of a cream blush. I’m pretty sure I bought one of these but I haven’t played with it yet. BBLOGGERPROBS

Bummer on the wear time. I’m not big on cream-based blush though

I like a good lightweight blush stick! I’ve tried some that were thick and hard to put on!

I haven’t tried these blushes, yet. I am reading nice things about them, tho. I should pick one up and give it a whirl.

Just Pinched Pink is my everyday go-to blush. I adore it because the shade is perfect for me and so easy and quick to apply. I just wish the color stayed on a little longer but I think it’s a great line.

Why am I so attracted to purple blushes recently? That plum one is so pretty. This might be one I catch on sale.

The shades look pretty but the cost and amount of product plus the wear time makes me not too interested in trying them out. Thanks for the honest review!
