Ever since they started popping up everywhere, I’ve been pretty underwhelmed with “baked” makeup products as a whole. I don’t really enjoy the texture of most baked eyeshadows or blushes, and I’ve found pigment to be pretty disappointing across the board. Until now, I had only found one baked eyeshadow that I’ve enjoyed: the Maybelline EyeStudio Baked Eyeshadow Duo in Sinful Sinnamon. However, I’ve recently re-discovered another impressive baked eyeshadow duo, or two rather!
Hard Candy Kal-eye-descope Baked Eyeshadow Duos have been around for a while, but I probably only discovered them within the past year. I know that Hard Candy recently released the Mod Quad baked eyeshadow quads, but those were pretty terrible and a completely different formula than these duos.
The Kal-eye-descope duos have a softer feel than other baked shadows, and you can pick up a lot of color without having to triple or quadruple dip your brush. The pigment is super impressive on these, and as I mentioned: way better than the Mod Quads. You don’t have to use these wet for great color payoff, although you could if you want an extra punch of color.
Ab Fab contains a bubblegum pink with silver shimmer particles, and a plumeria purple with a pink duochrome finish.
Secret Rendezvous contains a beige-y pink with silver shimmer particles, and a bronze burgundy with a satin finish.
Hard Candy is one of those hit-and-miss brands for me, but these eyeshadows are a solid hit! For only $6 a pop, these are on par with the Maybelline duos, and more impressive than some high end baked shadows I’ve tried.
You can buy Hard Candy products at your local Walmart, or online at Walmart.com.
What’s your favorite Hard Candy product? My other brand favorite is their mattifying nail topcoat, Matte-ly In Love.
