REVIEW & SWATCHES: e.l.f. Studio Blush & HD Blush

I am such a creature of habit. Usually when I find a product that I really like, I have a hard time branching out and trying new things. However one makeup product that I’ve finally started to broaden my horizons with is blush! Two blushes that I’ve been reaching for regularly are both from the e.l.f. Studio line.

The e.l.f. Studio Blush in Berry Merry is a great blush for this season (with such a festive name, no?). I would classify this shade as more of a mauve, and it has a good amount of shimmer. This blush gives my cheeks a beautiful glow. Both buildable and blendable, it is pretty versatile. The staying power is pretty impressive as well, at most 6 hours of wear time. I’m also a huge fan of the packaging of this product. Sleek, sturdy, and with a strong clasp, this compact will hold up very well if you just throw it in your purse and go… plus it comes with a small mirror!

The e.l.f. Studio HD Blush may possibly be one of my favorite products from the brand thus far. This cream blush is INSANELY pigmented. I mean really, you need a quarter of a pea size for one cheek. I have the color Headliner, which is one of the subtler shades the product comes in, but it still packs a punch. Luckily it blends out so easily and leaves a silky, matte finish on the skin. It’s super lightweight and has lasted over 10 hours for me. This light pink is great for keeping the face more neutral when you’re rocking a bold lip this season.

This amount might be too much for some people!

At first, I was disappointed in the size of the HD Blush, but considering what little amount you need for even your most dramatic looks, it’s going to last a good long while. The packaging on this is 50/50 for me. I really like that it has a pump for hygiene reasons, but I found it to be finicky. For my first few uses, it had me pumping over and over again, and then product would spurt out really fast (and usually too much, at that). Now it seems like everything is in working order, but I hate that I wasted product when the pump wasn’t working.

Overall, the blushes from e.l.f.’s Studio line are big hits in my book. The best part: these are both $3 each! You really can’t beat that for the quality of these blushes.

Have you tried any of e.l.f.’s blushes?

    1. I got my first elf HD blush this Cyber Monday. I can’t wait to photo it for a review so I can start trying it out. I think I’m going to like it after reading your opinions. Thanks!!

    2. i have and love a couple of their powder blushes (the single ones as well as the ones that come in a duo with a bronzer). i haven’t tried their cream blush yet but i’m dying to! i have never tried cream blush (i’m always the last on the makeup train to try new things!) but i figured the elf brand would be great to test out since it’s so inexpensive. it’ll have to wait a couple weeks, but i def plan on trying it out!

        • i’d say they’re about what you’d expect for a $3 bronzer/blush duo, haha. they’re really not terrible, i like the blush better than the bronzer though. the bronzer is not super pigmented, but it has glitter in it so it’s not really usable for contour. the color isn’t horrible, it seems dark in the pan but it’s pretty sheer and it has just a very slight orangey undertone that i feel is more noticeable in a swatch than wearing on the skin if that makes sense. i’ve only used it a handful of times for a little extra color on my face and neck/chest. the blush is very pretty, a pinky coral with maybe a hint of iridescence; it has glitter though. i’m not sure how many of these they have available – i just looked at mine and the sticker on the back just says “blushed/bronzed” with a number that’s so small i can’t read it, but i do believe they have more than one option in this kind of palette.

    3. I really like ELF’s Studio Blushes, they’ve all been really nice and pigmented. I recently purchased the darkest HD blush from them (I can’t remember the name) and it’s insanely pigmented. I don’t think I could wear it on my cheeks, but it does make a good lip tint. Though it does stain a little bit.
