Over the weekend, I attended the Professional Hair and Makeup Exposition, better known as PHAMExpo, for their second annual show in Pasadena. The floor was filled with exhibitors, speakers, and artists showcasing beautiful artistry, the newest product releases, and cult favorites.
I arrived at 8:30 AM, when the doors opened for “pro hours.” While anybody could purchase a pro-hour ticket, most of the attendees who arrived this early were professionals. These precious two hours before the general public was let in is crucial if you plan on getting some serious shopping and networking done, because the huge discounts cause things to sell out quickly!
Exhibitors included City Color Cosmetics (pictured above), Real Techniques, Too Faced, Make Up For Ever, Makeup Geek, and many more well loved brands. Most of them had irresistible discounts that I had to take advantage of. Check out my haul video below to see what all I took home!
One of my favorite things about PHAMExpo, and other makeup trade shows in general, is seeing the amazing makeup artistry being done live! There were a few makeup academies that had students “set up shop” to show off their skills.
The above picture is the tail end of the makeup process that two students from EI School of Professional Makeup underwent in front of the expo-goers. This was after about two hours of makeup application (and I thought *I* take a long time to get ready)! So creepy but so cool at the same time!
I’m in love with this picture I took of a model during a demonstration of The Makeup Light, a pricey but high-powered lighting system that is specifically designed for makeup application. The colors just pop off her skin, don’t they?
Overall, I had a ton of fun shopping and browsing during the expo, even though I was only able to stay for a few hours since my weekend was jam packed with plans. I wish I had been able to catch Pixiwoo and Jeffree Star’s demonstrations, but I already plan on returning next year. I would wholeheartedly suggest checking out these types of trade shows if they ever pop up in your area, so that you can at least score amazing deals on all sorts of makeup brands.
Let me know if anything from my haul tickles your fancy, and you would like a review of it!
