October 2014 Beauty Box 5 Review

Time is flying by because my October 2014 Beauty Box 5 has already arrived! Last month was a bit underwhelming for me, so I opened this box with hesitation, not knowing what to expect.

October 2014 Beauty Box 5 Review

This month’s theme was “effortless allure,” which I can certainly appreciate. The year gets busier for me as it draws to a close, and I’m always looking for effortless looks to wear. Luckily, I was satisfied with the selection of products we got this month! Take a look in the unboxing video below.

    Unboxing & Product Descriptions:

    Product Breakdown:

    1. Chapstick Hydration Lock (Full Size, Retail: $2.99)
Believe it or not, some of my favorite lip balms have come from Beauty Box 5! This new one from Chapstick is great for day or night lip hydration, containing tamanu oil, natural butters, and antioxidants! This is going to be a go-to when the windy weather kicks in here in SoCal.

    2. Bellapierre Cosmetics Cheek & Lip Stain in Pink (Sample Size, Retail: $19.99)
This cruelty free cheek and lip stain has a creamy consistency that applies smoothly on the skin and lips. You get a good amount of color pay off with this medium pink, and it blends out well for an airbrushed look.

    3. Extend Your Beauty Cosmetic Tool (Full Size, Retail: $5.49)
This little spatula is so handy for getting all of your product out of various bottles. I have one from this brand that’s larger for shampoo and lotion bottles. This one will be perfect for foundation and creams. These are also great for tubs of product that you don’t want to dip your fingers into for sanitation reasons, like face and eye creams.

    4. Nanacoco Nail Polish (Full Size, Retail: $3.95)
This is a really pretty bright blue with a cream finish. The nail polish smell is a bit strong, so watch out for that if you have a sensitive sniffer.

    5. Lashem Picture Perfect (Sample Size, Retail: $3.95?)
This wrinkle reducer/primer has a thinner serum consistency that feels good on the skin. I’m a bit confused as to why BB5 listed the retail price to be under $4, because on the Lashem website, this retails for $40! Perhaps a typo?

Overall, this box was a big step up from last month. BB5 has been a lot better about including makeup items in each box, which I definitely appreciate. My favorite item this month is the cheek & lip stain, which I think will get lots of use this season for that effortless, naturally flushed look.

Beauty Box 5 is $12/mo. If you’re interesting in subscribing, check out their website.
