New e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipsticks for Fall

posted in: Makeup

One by one, I’ve been trading in my bright, summer lipsticks for nudes to pair with smoky eyes and deep colors for statement lips. The brand new shades from the e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing lipstick line have fall written all over them, with a range of colors for any look you’re going for.

My personal collection of e.l.f. lipsticks is pretty extensive, but I was particularly excited for these new lipsticks for fall to come out because they seem right up my alley for the looks I’ve been wearing lately.

There are seven new shades in the line consisting of nudes and vampy colors, so I can keep things light and fresh or go all out and bring the drama.

In the Nude

This one is called In The Nude | Slashed BeautyIn the Nude is my perfect nude shade— it’s practically the same color as my natural lips. This is perfect when I want to even out the tone to keep things neutral for smoky eyes or a no-makeup makeup look.

Southern Bell

This one is called Southern Bell | Slashed BeautySouthern Bell is a really pretty peachy pink that’s subtle enough to pair with different looks while adding a nice healthy color to the lips.

Marsala Blush

Berry Kiss

Bordeaux Beauty

This one is called Bordeaux Beauty | Slashed BeautyBordeaux Beauty turns out to be a bit more of a deep cranberry shade that goes on smooth and is what I would call “vamp-lite” since it’s not too dark.

Black Berry

New e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipsticks for Fall - Click through to see lip swatches of all the new shades! This one is called Black Berry | Slashed BeautyBlack Berry is such a beautiful burgundy, but was the only one that was slightly streaky and takes a little more work to apply evenly.

Black Out

New e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipsticks for Fall - Click through to see lip swatches of all the new shades! This one is called Black Out | Slashed BeautyYAAASS. Black Out is a deep, opaque, and matte black lipstick. We don’t see a lot of daring shades like this from budget brands, and I was love love lovin’ on this shade. It may not be an every day color, but extremely chic when wore on its own with just some defined brows and maybe a hint of mascara.

It seemed to me that this new batch of lipsticks for fall varied in formula, both from the rest of the line as well as each other. While Black Out was opaque and matte, most of the neutral shades were a tad more sheer (but buildable to full coverage) and creamy. However, all of them— with the exception of Black Berry— came out looking even and smooth.

Usually with these lipsticks, I have to touch up halfway through the day (often after lunch) but otherwise the color stays on pretty well. I will say that the new Black Out shade will look really funky after eating, so I would go ahead and dab it off prior to your meal, then reapply after you’re finished. Also something to note: they have a sweet vanilla flavor and subtle scent to them.

Overall, my favorites of the new releases are Black Out for high-fashion, chic looks, Southern Bell as a subtle pop of pink and Marsala Blush as an every day shade.

The e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipsticks are only $3.00, and the new fall shades are now available online.

What are your favorite lipstick shades for fall?

Black Berry is so beautiful! It’s too bad it’s a little streaky… Do you remember if it left much of a stain when you tried to take it off? If it’s an awesome stain, it’s worth it being a little streaky, at least for me! e.l.f. is such an impressive brand. And OMG @ that black! It looks really, really luscious!

It does leave a stain but if you don’t get it even during your application, the stain won’t be even either. So it can be a little tricky but worth it if you don’t mind fiddling with it. YESS the black is awesome! It transfers a little bit, but it’s totally opaque and rich! Thanks for visiting!! 🙂

I don’t think that many people realize that the bottom of these lipsticks pops off to reveal a lip balm in the same color as the lipstick. It’s a more sheer version but still nice.

Hmm, you know Jen I really think that the bottom is just so you can see what shade of lipstick you’re grabbing from the outside, I actually probably wouldn’t use what’s inside the display window just in case it’s mixed with other, non-lip-safe ingredients in order for it to hold the shade.

I picked up all of these, except the two lightest ones. So excited that ELF came out with Black, and some of these darker Fall shades!

Right!??! More mainstream brands need to start following suit and giving us some out of the box options!

I love e.l.f. and the Moisturizing Lipsticks. I got all these, and I have to say, to me they’re just “OK.” I thought the formula was really sheer and waxy compared to the rest of the line, with the exception of Black Out. I don’t know if e.l.f. meant these to be more sheer or if there was a formula change. Bourdeaux Beauty and Blackberry were the only one I really liked. I found Black Out to be really, really dry and patchy unless I apply it over lip balm (I don’t have dry lips, either). Once it’s built up, it does look uber-cool and chic because of the matteness. It’s just a pain to work with and doesn’t really fit into a line called “Moisturizing.”

I would agree with you that the formula is different than the other ones from the line I’ve tried– and the Black isn’t all that moisturizing but I understand why they had to make it that way, because otherwise it would probably be more sheer and wouldn’t offer a full coverage color, which is what looks best with black. I didn’t find it to be patchy, though. I DID see that the shades took some warming up before performing their best, so maybe give it another go!

All of them are pretty. I always say when it comes to makeup trends if you can get it on the cheap go for it. For the price these Fall lippies totally look worth it.

Berry Kiss looks lovely and I don’t have many natural colors, for $3 I think I’ll need to see if I can find it. I hope to see more looks for you with Black Out!
