New 2018 Rimmel Magnif’eyes Eyeshadow Palettes

I’m always excited when brands release color. I feel like we all have our go-to neutrals at this point, that there’s really not much a new nude shadow palette can deliver that we don’t have in several others already. But when I see color, I get excited and inspired to step out of my comfort zone, try new looks and really add something different to my makeup collection.

So I was really happy when I saw Rimmel releasing new Magnif’eyes eyeshadow palettes in three exciting color stories. The Magnif’eyes palettes each have twelve shadows, both shimmers and mattes, and you’ll find them between $5-$8 in drugstores. These three new releases are the most non-neutral out of all versions of this palette, and have been pushing me to use more color in my looks.

Let’s take a closer peek at each palette.

The Rimmel Magnif’eyes Crimson Edition Eyeshadow Palette does contain a couple neutrals, but clearly has a strong red and pink focus. Out of the three palettes we’re talking about today, I feel that this one is the most well balanced in terms of color tone— there’s enough to clearly highlight with, use as a lid shade, and to add deeper definition. This is also the palette that contains the most mattes, and ya’ll know I gotta have my mattes. This palette is very fall-friendly with more warm-leaning shades. The shadows are really smooth and easily blendible, though they do apply a little sheer at first and need to be built up for full opacity. Nothing super annoying though, I just pack on the shadow in a couple of layers to get my desired look.

The Rimmel Magnif’eyes Electric Violet Edition Eyeshadow Palette is all about the purples, with a pop of aqua for a bit of contrast. I love working with purples and how they make my brown eyes pop, but I had a few gripes with this palette when it came to the shade selection. I feel like most of the shades are light-mid tone, with the only real matte crease option to be black. I wish they gave us a deep matte purple to use in the crease as well, just for a little variety. With that said, I do love the looks I’ve created thus far with the palette. Also, the lighter shades were a bit on the frosty side instead of the smooth satin finish I prefer. Overall, beautiful color scheme though, and a few of the purple shades have a gorgeous shift to them and really pop when they catch the light. And again, super blendable and buildable— easy to work with.

The Rimmel Magnif’eyes Jewel Rocks Edition Eyeshadow Palette was what I was most excited for, but subsequently ended up being my least liked. Only because… where are the crease shades? We have one semi-dark teal matte that is basically our only option. If they swapped one of the two very similar gold-ish-is highlight shades to a deep matte brown, we woulda been in business. I can see myself dipping into this for certain shades, like the two beautiful blues, but I do prefer to have a palette include several full looks instead of having to juggle products.

For the price, these are awesome palettes to grab when you’re looking to add a little more color to your looks. I’d say the only one to skip is Jewel Rocks, unless you see a couple shades that really speak to you or you have no issue doing full-shimmer looks. The Crimson Edition and Electric Violet Edition will definitely get some great use throughout this fall and winter from me. I’ll admit: they’re not the best most glorious quality shadows I’ve ever used, but they’re easy to work with and build up to the intensity you like.

You can find the Rimmel Magnif’eyes Eyeshadow Palettes at Walmart.

Do any of these colorful eyeshadow palettes catch your eye?

Do you think that Miranda can review more Rimmel London Eyeshadow palettes besides the ones she already reviewed?

Maybe! Depends on what lands across my desk and what catches my eye at the drugstore. Times have been crazy lately so I haven’t had a chance to really look for new makeup in-stores yet.

Well, all the shares are really amazing and suit you, but personally, I like the purple color because it is the symbol of elegance and beauty just like a princess wearing a purple color dress and looks beautiful. You eyeshadow palettes are wonderful, but golden color is much better when you want to go for a party it gives you professional look.
