Modern Monochrome Outfit

You can always depend on black and white to keep things classy. Monochrome outfits are timelessly chic, but are also popping more frequently in both red carpet and street style looks. Monochrome can say so much with so little: it can be edgy, professional, casual, or formal.

I’m getting ahead on my spring cleaning, starting with clearing out most of the clothing items I’ve hoarded since high school. It’s time to refine my wardrobe as I get closer to graduating college and stepping into the real world! I’ve been purging a lot of my junior’s tees and ripped jeans, which means more room to add sophisticated pieces that reflect who I am and who I want to be.

I put this outfit together with affordable pieces from Necessary Clothing as something I could wear to work, on a date, or any fine event. It makes me feel more sophisticated, while still being on trend and young (I’m only 21 after all).

The fun part of dressing in black and white is deciding what your accents are going to be. I chose gold to help break up the palette without overpowering the ensemble, incorporating it into my makeup as well as my necklace choice.

I’m sort of obsessed with these high waisted lace pants. They definitely take a staple and give it a trendy twist. The plain white blouse compliments them well without a lot of design elements besides the feminine v-neck. Tip: If you’ve got a white blouse that’s sheer like this one, wear a camisole underneath that matches closely with your skin tone (in my case, beige). It will be virtually invisible underneath, unlike a white undershirt that will show up easily.

I’m not really a clutch kinda girl, but this little black bag is perfect for me. Not only is it convertible with a gold shoulder chain, but it’s also super roomy with two zipper compartments and a large pocket. I can definitely pack all the essentials in here, and then some.

I’d call that duochromatic since you’ve got two shades going on, but I agree, completely classic and classy!

Actually the style got its name from pictures that were developed in black and white!

Thank you! I love how you can dress it up like I’ve done here, but it also looks really cute with jeans 🙂
