Makeup Revolution The One Sticks Review

I am counting the seconds until we can expect cooler weather as fall gets going, but that does come with the subtle changes in my makeup routine as well. For one thing, I tend to work more cream products into my looks. The new Makeup Revolution The One Sticks have already made their appearance in my daily rotation because they’re so easy to use, easy to blend, and feel great on the skin.

There are three versions of this product: The One Blush Stick, with two shades available, The One Sculpt Contour Stick, and The One Highlight Contour Stick. They’re all extremely creamy and pigmented, and can deliver either natural definition or a strong sculpted look. They glide onto the skin with no tug, giving a nice moisturizing feel and look to the face.

L to R: The One Highlight Contour Stick, The One Sculpt Contour Stick, The One Blush Stick in Matte Malibu, The One Blush Stick in Matte Rush

One swipe delivers a ton of color— the only one that comes off slightly less pigmented is The One Blush Stick in Matte Malibu, but since this is more of a bronzing shade that’s meant to be more sheered out.

The brand says they can be applied either dry or wet, though I feel that’s a bit misleading. I think what they meant to say is that they can be blended out with either a wet or dry brush/sponge… because when I wet the stick itself, it didn’t have much of an impact on the application. However, blending out with a dry brush will keep the color stronger, while a damp sponge will make it look more natural and subtle. Then again, you can also just use your fingers. They’re pretty fool-proof, making your face makeup routine even easier.

I’ve found that the best way to use these is starting with The One Sculpt Contour Stick, swiping just under the cheekbones, then tapping The One Blush Stick in Matte Rush slightly above that. I let both of them set into the skin for about 40 seconds before blending, which helps them last longer with more color payoff. I finish by applying The One Highlight Contour Stick to the high points of my face and blend out with my finger. This technique really helps cream products stick, as they tend to easily disappear after extensive blending if you start on them right away.
