Maintaining Hair Color At Home with L’Oreal Le Color Gloss

I’ve really cut back on salon visits over the past year, only venturing into the stylist’s chair for one color appointment ast summer. My hair is currently colored black, which isn’t too far off from my natural dark brown shade. However, I still need touchups now and again when I want to restore the tone that I prefer. I recently discovered the new L’Oreal Le Color Gloss One Step Toning Gloss at the drugstore, and just in time as my hair was due for a refresh.

The L’Oreal Le Color Gloss One Step Toning Gloss is an at home color enhancing gloss that you can use as an in-shower treatment. I’ve had gloss treatments done at the salon in the past, and they’re a really nice pick-me-up for color without doing a thorough recolor. They add shine and help you maintain hair color longer. This product lets you do the same thing at home without mixing or mess.

You also don’t have to worry about damaging your hair with this product. It has a vegan formula free of ammonia, paragons, phthalates, sulfates, or mineral oils. It’s safe on all hair types and textures, plus colored or keratin-treated hair. Infused with coconut oil, this also works as a deep conditioner to leave your hair soft and super shiny.

The Le Color Gloss is available in eight natural shades, ranging from blonde to copper to black. There is an auburn shade that leans a bit maroon though. To be super clear: this isn’t a hair coloring product, and won’t change your hair shade. It’s meant to tone and enhance your current shade— for example, neutralizing brassiness in blondes, or reviving a faded red. For my Black hair, I wanted more depth back in my color, and hopefully even out some of the fading I saw.

After shampooing, you’re supposed to apply the gloss to wet hair and let it sit for 15 minutes. The texture of this gloss is pretty thin and spreads through the hair easily. As you work it in, it will start to create a very slight lather. This stuff smells amazing, too, like candy! I noticed some staining on my shoulders and hands as I applied the gloss, but was able to completely remove the color from my skin with hot water only. Also, it didn’t stain my shower walls or floor which made me extremely happy.

Before and After using L'Oreal Le Color Gloss Review | How to Maintain Hair Color Longer At Home | Slashed Beauty

Drumroll please… here’s the final result! It’s a bit hard to capture on camera, but I definitely saw a difference after using the gloss. The tone of my hair was much closer to what it was straight out of the salon, and I felt like I had more dimension to my color. Plus, my hair was so silky and shiny, it really did feel like I had just gotten a salon treatment.

The box says that the effect is supposed to last about ten days, depending on how often you shampoo your hair. Since I only shampoo about once a week, I think I’ll be able to stretch that a bit farther, giving me over a month’s worth of treatment in one tube.

I’m super happy with the results of the L’Oreal Le Color Gloss, and will definitely be keeping it in my routine to maintain my hair color at home. You can find it for $14.99 at Ulta Beauty.

Question, Can a leave in conditioner be applied with this product?

If you mix this with conditioner the color may not be as vibrant, I would do this completely first and then follow up with a mask afterward.

How good is the “clear” gloss?
Is it recommended for hair that is going grey?

The clear gloss will enhance shine and condition the hair, like a conditioning treatment but will not add color. It should be fine for gray as it doesn’t alter color.

I actually just dried it, and it made my hair dry and really frizzy and puffy, the opposite of what I wanted!
      Very Disappointed with this product.
I will not buy it again!
