January 2015 Boxycharm Review

With all of the great beauty prospects already on the rise this year, I was definitely eager to receive my January 2015 Boxycharm. As the box that has quickly become my favorite of the subscriptions, I knew they wouldn’t let me down, and they would start the year with a bang.

January 2015 Boxycharm Review | Slashed Beauty

I certainly wasn’t wrong, because we got a lot of bang for our buck this month. Watch the video below for my unboxing and closer looks at the products.

    Product Breakdown:

    1. Pur-lisse Skin Sparkle Flash Tattoos ($12)
These metallic tattoos have popped up like crazy on my Instagram feed. They’re the newest cool accessory, and I’m excited to try them out. This sheet has several bracelet-style tattoos as well as shorter ones, which I assume go down the finger?

    2. Tarte Maracuja Bronzing Serum ($47)
Score! I love when we get any product from Tarte, as one of my fave high end brands, but this one is worth more than double the box! This serum not only moisturizes, but also gradually self-tans your skin for a beautiful, glowy bronze. Perhaps I’ll use this right before summer, when I have to adjust my foundation shade anyway! Get 20% off your online tarte purchase with the code BOXYJAN between 2/3/15 and 2/12/15.

    3. Beauty for Real The Perfect Pencil ($14)
This neutral brown lip liner is supposed to work universally with any lipstick shade you choose to define your lips. I’m definitely pairing this with my 90s brown lipsticks that I’ve been wearing lately.

    4. Beauty for Real True Color Lip Cream in “Always There” ($22)
Um, yeah this is really darn cool. This liquid lipstick is super creamy and pigmented. The warm mauve shade is pretty and versatile, but what makes me love this is the packaging, of course. The built in flashlight and mirror makes this a purse must-have. I can’t wait to bring this on my next night out!

    5. Mirabella Face Prime ($29)
This seems like your run-of-the-mill face primer. It’s got a thin consistency with that same silky smooth feel on the skin. It has Vitamin E to nourish and hydrate the skin.

*whistles* Subscribers sure did get to cash out on this box, because the value was off the charts. Another month totally satisfied with Boxycharm, for sure. I’ve skipped out on reviewing the last couple months of Beauty Box 5 because they’re becoming less and less interesting when compared with this service. Their January box was beans compared to this… maybe if next month’s is better, I’ll share with ya’ll.

Check out Boxycharm on their website, the subscription is only $21/mo.

    1. This box was a total score, but I’m pale as a ghost and don’t tan/bronze. So the Tarte serum is totally useless to me. I’ll probably end up selling it. I really liked the primer. I didn’t find it as heavy-feeling as most of them.

    2. You must review that lip cream – very intrigued!! I wonder if it would have made it in your post the other day about the best liquid lipsticks had you had it before? Certainly the packaging drives the price up but it looks *really* pigmented and I think it looks worth the price for sure! I am always on the hunt for liquid lipsticks that aren’t drying – can’t wait to see what you think of it! Where can we get that line? I’ve never heard of it before either.
