I’m Trying Laser Hair Removal with the Tria 4x

Now that it’s summer and I’m inevitably wearing less clothing, I can’t really get away with not shaving as much as I could during winter and spring. To be honest, shaving sucks up a lot of my beauty budget. When you think about the shaving cream, razors, and blade refills that you’re buying month after month, that adds up! Let’s think this through:

Shaving Cream: around $4/mo
Razor Handle: around $10 every so often
Blade Refills: $20 every other month

I started shaving when I was in the sixth grade, so for this exercise let’s predict I stop caring at about age 75ish. That’s about $3,024 on shaving cream, $7,560 on blade refills, and $1,260 on new razor handles every 6 months. Yowza.

Even though growing out body hair is becoming more accepted among women (seriously, more power to you if you do!), I have coarse hair that feels uncomfortable when it’s longer and rubs against my bedsheets or clothes. I’ve always toyed with the idea of getting laser hair removal, but the process just seems tedious.

So when Tria reached out to me to see if I’d be interested in trying their hair removal laser that I can work from home (the first and only cleared by the FDA), I was super drawn in— especially since summer has hit hard already. The Tria Hair Removal Laser 4x is their newest design and uses the same diode laser technology preferred by dermatologists in the office.

The device itself is pretty large, but the laser head is small and round for precise targeting. It’s supposed to deliver safe and permanent results in reducing hair regrowth. Sure, it’s definitely a hefty investment, but considering you won’t have to buy all your shaving supplies… ever again… it’s a pretty economical trade off if you can afford it up front. Plus, you can use it all over the body, including your upper lip, underarms, bikini area, and of course your legs.

I’m going to be testing out the Tria 4x for the next few months, and I’ll keep you updated on the progress with lots of photos. I started over the weekend with my first treatment on my lower legs. It took a little getting used to– I sped through my first leg and then realized I needed to slow down to really get every inch covered. It took me about 25 minutes to do the other leg the right way. The laser’s sensation ranges from no feeling at all, to warm, to a little bit of a sting in more sensitive areas (like the ankle). The SmoothStart Calming Gel is supposed to help with the sensation, but I think it will all really depend on your own skin’s sensitivity.

I’m really hoping that this works! I’m supposed to use it every other week for three months to completely deactivate the hair follicles, shaving in between treatments. Hopefully by the end, I can kiss shaving every other day goodbye.

If you wanna try this too, now is a great time– not only because it’s summer, but because Tria is offering 10% off purchase of the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X + a complimentary beach bag + complimentary Tria sunscreen + $25 Tria Gift Card for your next purchase (An added value of $160!). Just head over here and use code VIPBLOGGER before July 14th.

I’m intrigued to know the final result. I have coarse hairs too, no thanks to shaving.

I can’t wait to read about your experience with the Tria. I rarely shave my legs because there’s practically no hair on them. I wonder how this would work on my underarms

I’ve been using a different at-home laser, and at first I thought it was a gimmick, but I love the results! I hope you enjoy your Tria 🙂

Please do give us a follow up. I went to a medical spa and had laser hair removal on my chin. I’m glad I did it before those hairs turned white.

I’ll be interested in your follow ups. As I’ve aged my legs barely need shaving but that hair is still around — on my face! Not where I want hair so this fascinates me.

I love that you did the math! I always figured waxing or laser was cheaper in the long run.

You and I have pretty similar hair types, so I’m hoping this works for you! I would love it if something like this worked for me. I will say, though, age has thinned out my leg hair quite a bit. Also, old age has made my vision worse, so even if I do have leg hair, I don’t see it as well.. and if I don’t see it, it’s not there, right? lol.
