How to Get the Bridgerton Makeup Look with Drugstore Products

I think it’s safe to say that most Bridgerton fans have finished binging season 2 by now, and if you’re anything like me, you’ve been admiring the gorgeous fresh-faced makeup looks from the show throughout all the courting and scheming.

Bridgerton makeup, inspired by the Regency-era trends, is rather subtle but still delicately defines key features like the eyes, cheeks and lips. When the show’s makeup artist, Lynda J Pearce, shared the products used to achieve Daphne’s dewy and rosy look in a series of Instagram posts, it wasn’t a huge surprise that many of the products were pricey.

Luckily, you can recreate the clean and classic Bridgerton makeup look with drugstore makeup swaps that give similar results! Check out the routine below.

Illuminating Primer

To enhance the gorgeous glow that defines the Bridgerton makeup look, Pearce preps using the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Face Primer ($40). This not only has Vitamin C for long lasting skin brightening effects, but is infused with pigments that add radiance under makeup. Nearly identical effects can be found with the Milani Bright Side Illuminating Primer ($10.99). Without having tried the Ole Henriksen primer, I would go as far to say these are absolutely dupes based on the claims and formula highlights!

Dewy Foundation

On set, Pearce uses the Chanel Vitalumier Aqua Foundation ($50), which is a thin and lightweight product that offers light-to-medium coverage. You can get similar results with the L’Oreal Skin Paradise Water-Infused Tinted Moisturizer ($16.99), a water-based tinted moisturizer with buildable coverage, a dewy and natural looking finish, plus a boost of hydration. You can see before and afters of me using this product over my acne and hyperpigmentation in my Skin Paradise Tinted Moisturizer Review.

Brightening Concealer

Adding to the glow, the YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Concealer ($38) is applied to the under eye area. This moisturizing concealer adds enough coverage to conceal dark circles while staying weightless… which you can also achieve with the $6 e.l.f. Flawless Brightening Concealer. Both use hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin while you wear it, but the drugstore swap is vegan and cruelty free!

Flushed Blush

With the rest of the face staying pretty subtle, blush is where the Bridgerton makeup looks make a statement. On Daphne, you’ll see that the Stila Convertible Color ($25) in Lillium adds a flushed and bouncy look on the cheeks in a nude pink. The Flower Beauty Lip & Cheek Gel Crush ($9.99) gives the same wash of color and glossy finish for a youthful appearance. The shade Strawberry Crush is a close match when blended, perhaps slightly warmer.

Sheer Lip

This secret is one even Lady Whistledown wouldn’t have caught: Daphne wears a drugstore lip color, though it’s not a lip product at all! The Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel ($14) is a translucent gel blush, but Pearce dabs and blends the Natural shade softly on the lips to make them look more naturally pigmented.

The Bridgerton makeup style is classic, and perfect for every day wear. As barely there makeup is trending in 2022, it’s both timeless and contemporary!
