Holiday Hairstyle: Twisted Bun Up-do

The holidays are in full swing and my social calendar is more jam packed than ever. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I cut my hair over the weekend to just past collarbone length. It’s a “lob plus,” if you will. I’m loving the shorter cut, but it does end up limiting the hairstyles I can achieve.

One style that I’m still able to pull off, though, is this twisted bun that’s quick and polished. I’ve worn it out on the town with the girls, but also to a friend’s wedding. I always get compliments on it, and it’s even easier to pull together with the Conair Quick Twist.

I talked about how the Conair Quick Twist works a couple weeks back, and how it would make an awesome—and inexpensive— gift for either you or someone you know. This hairstyle is just another reason to add it to your hair tools collection. The twists really help dress up a simple bun to make it a versatile updo.

Steps

1 // Separate a few inches of the hair on either side in front from what’s in back.
2 // Tie the back section into a bun. It doesn’t have to be perfect— a messy bun makes this even more fun!
3 // Separate the front section of hair into two sections. Take one section, split it into two pieces, and loop each piece into the Conair Quick Twist clips.
4 // Push up on the purple button on the Quick Twist to twist the individual strands.
5 // Once strands are fully twisted, release the button and rotate the Quick Twist in the direction of the arrow on the tool, then use a clear elastic to secure the twist. Do this twice on each side of your face, so you have a total of four twists.
6 // Pull the twists back over the bun in the opposite direction of the side it started on. Tuck the end of the twist under the bun and pin secure.

Voila! Simple, elegant, and perfect for any occasion. I actually find this style easier to do now that I have shorter hair, but it looked great before my chop, too.

What’s your go-to holiday hairstyle?
