High End Heroes: Hair vol. 1

As someone who very rarely visits the salon, I like treating my hair to something fancy from time to time. Don’t get me wrong, there are a ton of drugstore hair products that keep my locks looking prime, but several from higher end lines have really found a place in my routine.

With these five products, it’s easy to justify the cost with what you’re getting: quality that lasts.

    Conair 3Q Brushless Hair Dryer
This is the coolest hair dryer I’ve ever used… no, literally. I honestly do not even understand it, but this thing dries my hair in half the time and half the heat as other blowdryers I’ve tried. It comes with two attachments: a concentrator (as shown in the picture) and a diffuser, which I use often for when I’m leaving my hair curly. This hair dryer has a multitude of settings: hot, warm, cool, as well as cold (yes, like air-conditioner cold) which can blow on either high or low. The brushless motor helps hair dry quickly and without frizz.

    Ferrum Flat Iron
This is the first flat iron that I’ve tried— let alone, trusted— to straighten my hair with only one hot plate. That’s right: this iron has one ceramic hot plate to straighten your hair while maintaining shine and health on one side, and one non-heated side lined with fabric to cause less damage and let your hair breathe. It heats up to 450 (with an adjustable dial for lower settings), which is the temperature my hair irons out the quickest with. Ya’ll have seen my hair: it’s a thick and wavy mane. To my surprise, this little iron puts in work! Even though it’s thin, I can typically straighten my whole head of hair in about a half hour, and my hair feels incredibly silky afterwords.

    Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Masque
I’m a big fan of their original Deep Repair Masque, so I was excited yet skeptical when their latest came out. I mean, how much better could it really get? This one is specifically targeted to medium to coarse hair, and I’m hooked. It supercharges my hair with hydration while nourishing it with omega 7, 5 and 3 fatty acids and argan oil. My hair feels so much healthier and more manageable after my weekly dose. I find that these tubs last forever, but you can also pick up a travel size for $12.

Living Proof No Frizz Leave-In Conditioner
After the shower, I towel dry my hair and have been applying this leave-in to combat frizz and lock in moisture. It has a light, creamy consistency that smooths over and absorbs into the hair instantly. It keeps my hair frizz-free and lustrous longer. Being oil free is a serious plus, since it’s really starting to warm up in LA. When it’s hot, I like to keep my hair products as light as possible without sacrificing touchable hair.

DermOrganic Leave-In Treatment with Argan Oil
I typically apply this once my hair is dry after shampooing, or before any heat styling. It protects and adds shine and hydration while mending split ends. I also find it help define the natural shape of my hair if I’m leaving it wavy/curly. With its medium consistency, I only use it once a week as a treatment rather than an every-day styling oil. This one also comes in a smaller size for $10, though the full size has lasted me well over a year with weekly use.

What hair products do you splurge on?

    1. I love DermOrganic and the one Living Proof product I’ve tried (5-in-1 treatment) but I definitely need to try that flat iron. I’ve tried Babyliss and Conair and my hair frizzes up again after a while 🙁

    2. Oooh great list! When I need hair products again, I definitely want to try Macadamia Oil! And I love me some leave in conditioners!! Thanks for the tips!

    3. I want to try something from Living Proof. Their backstory is especially appealing to me as a MA resident.

    4. Thanks for sharing the hair dryer, mine of like 8 years crapped out on me and I need a new one for sure. I don’t care to spend the money because they last forever! I also love the Macadamia Pro mask it’s amazing!
