Practical Fashion: When You’re Comfy, You’re Confident

I’d like to think I’ve always been pretty practical in my fashion decisions. I love daring couture as much as the next girl, but price and comfort have always come first when it comes to my wardrobe.

Since I’ve been working from home for the past few months, I’m definitely prioritizing comfort in my day-to-day outfits. I mean, most days, I’m able to stay in my PJs or activewear and just lounge while I work. So when I am called out to a meeting or event, I never want to sacrifice comfort for fashion. The thing is, a lot of people think the two are mutually exclusive. They’re not… you just have to start from the very foundation of every outfit.

To be honest, I just don’t think a great outfit is worth it if you’re not comfortable. But, one way to feel comfortable— and confident— in any outfit starts with your undergarments. Yep, I’m talking bras and panties, people. It doesn’t matter how fly you look if you’re worrying about bunching or pinching. With comfort as the foundation of your fashion statement, you’ll be feeling confident and ready to take on a long day without fantasizing of the “bra-off” moment.

TMI? Whatever. The bra and panties I’ve been wearing to stay comfortable during my dress-to-impress moments have been from Hanes.

Both bras are from the ComfortFlex Fit line, which uses a smart sizing fabric so you don’t have to stick to traditional sizing rules. I’m traditionally a 36C, and I fit into a Medium in the Hanes bras. One of my most-used has been the Ultimate Comfy Support ComfortFlex Fit Wire-Free Bra. Even though there’s no underwire, the sturdy strap gives me enough support and the material is soft and stretchy for extra comfort. I love that it’s seamless for a smooth silhouette— which really matters underneath thin blouses— and without a tag or underwire, I don’t have to worry about anything poking me. They’re $34 each, but Hanes always has special offers and discounts http://clvr.li/2agBYPC to help you stick to a budget!

My day-to-day “t-shirt” bra has been the Get Cozy ComfortFlex Fit Seamless Pullover Bra, which has a pull-over style for a no-show effect and flexibility. I wear this one out with friends, running errands, doing yoga… it’s really a do-everything bra, and it’s only $9.99. It’s definitely my newest wardrobe essential that I can’t live without, and I basically need to buy one for every day of the week because I can’t take mine off. Sometimes I even fall asleep in it because I forget I’m wearing it! I also like the nude color, since it’s inconspicuous if it peeks out behind a top.

There’s a time and place for sexy underwear, but if you’re not planning on showing it off, why WOULDN’T you want to wear something you don’t have to worry about riding up in all the wrong places? They may look basic, but the Hanes Cool Comfort Panties are the best for a busy fashionista. They’re made with the soft and breathable Cool Comfort wicking fabric that keeps you cool when you’re running around town.

Bottom line is: when you’re comfortable, you’re confident, and that starts from the foundation of any look even when it’s the layer nobody sees.

    1. I need comfort which is why I don’t like an underwire. Since this still has support though it sounds like a good option.
