Great $1 Makeup Find: Shop Miss A a2o Glow Liquid Eyeshadow

It took a while for liquid eyeshadow to click with me. But once I figured out how they could help me streamline my routine, I became obsessed. I currently use liquid eyeshadow in two ways: as an all-over lid shade, and to create a one-step cut crease. They’re my two favorite lazy girl makeup hacks to speed up both simple and glam makeup looks.

In my most recent Shop Miss A Haul, I picked a new launch to try from the a2o Lab brand: the Glow Liquid Eyehsadows. These shadows are highly reflective, easy to apply and blend out, and… cost only $1.

Yep, another great $1 makeup product from a Shop Miss A brand that I think totally outperforms the price tag. Let me show you why!

First off, I do want to clarify that these “liquid” shadows aren’t liquid-y at all. They are definitely more of a thin cream formula, which I actually prefer as it gives a bit more control and makes the pigment more blendable. They come with a doe foot applicator that makes application simple straight out of the tube. I typically swipe the product onto the lid with the wand, then use my fingers to blend the shade out if necessary.

Most of the shades offer almost completely opaque color in one swipe– and what gorgeous color it is! They can also be sheered out easily with the fingers or a brush. The most sheer color is Litmus, a pale blue silver. The most pigmented is Heat, a burgundy purple. I absolutely love the glowy, metallic appearance of these shades. If you find the need to, you can definitely build up the pigmentation with a second layer of product. Keep in mind, you don’t want to add too much or the creamy formula will become very slippy and move around the lid.

When using this liquid eyeshadow as an all-over lid shade, I’ll add a thin layer to my entire lid and crease, blend out the edges, then go in with a second layer on any areas that may look sparse. If I’m using these to create a cut crease look, I start with a thin layer to outline the crease shape, blending excess product downward onto the lid, then add a second layer to fill in the lid.

Now, let’s be realistic here: we can’t have everything we want for $1, can we? These aren’t budge-proof or super long wear, and they don’t play nicely with oily lids. The issue is that they don’t quite dry down all the way, and stay slightly tacky on the lid. Primer is a must, but specifically using a matte primer will really help these live up to their full potential. However, I did experiencing subtle creasing about an hour into wear even with a primer. It wasn’t a total mess, and I was easily able to correct by re-blending with my finger. The shadow lasted about 6 hours before starting to look faded and a bit smudgy on my moderately oily lids. The short of it all: if you know you struggle with slick lids, this is probably a shadow you’re going to want to skip.

On the other hand, if you have normal to dry lids, these are so stunning and really do outperform their $1 price tag, even with the downsides. I’m keeping them on hand for quick makeup days when I want to add a pearlescent glow to my look without going all out.

Ive had these for AGES and just haven’t used them, but in search for swatches of Glossier Lidstars I suddenly realized they reminded me of something… Do you know how these compare to Lidstars? Because I have a full set of these and if I don’t need to get the Glossier ones…..
