Girls’ Day at the BeWell Expo

On Saturday, I grabbed my two main girls Sam and Christine and headed over to Pasadena for the 2013 BeWell Expo! Open to the public, tickets were $25 for a one-day pass which included a free makeover, manicure, lash & brow bars, yoga classes and much more.

First we got made-over by Plain Jane Beauty. They started by prepping our skin with natural moisturizers and face masks which felt and smelled amazing. We were then led to the makeup artists who glammed us up! They did a great job with my face makeup, and I scored a sample of their translucent powder in my press bag.

Next was the lash bar, sponsored by LashX by Makeup Mandy. They offered a complimentary lash application, or an upgrade for a set of lashes that would stay on for a week! We opted for the one-day lashes, which looked amazing. Although LashX offers strip falsies, they applied the individual lashes to us, which made for a much more natural effect. I think I like those better because I felt I still had full mobility of my eyelid. We looked gorgeous!

We then headed over to the manicure station, sponsored by Bio Seaweed Gel, a Canadian gel polish company. The manicure lasted all of 10 minutes and, being my first gel manicure, I was so surprised at how fast the polish set. I kept telling my manicurist that I’d need to reach into my bag to give her my card, and was nervous to smudge my nails. She assured me not to worry, and sure enough I had full functioning phalanges that I didn’t need to coddle waiting for the polish to dry. My nails feel a lot stronger with this applied, too!

The brow bar was sponsored by Chella. My friend Sam and I loved the tools they used to groom us, and they made our brows look fab. Although the brow artist who worked on Christine screwed up, only to be discovered later when she took her makeup off and one of her brows was extremely thinner than the other. What a pain!

We scored a lot of free goodies including BonBliss body truffles, Chella highlighter, and Maxi-Lip lip plumper! I also purchased a new buffing brush from Crown Brush, a purple lipstick from Act 5 and a hair towel wrap from Bass.

Overall I had a fantastic time at the BeWell expo and hope they come back soon with more fantastic vendors and booths.

Have you ever been to a beauty expo? This was my first, but definitely not my last!
