Gift Idea: Designer Fragrances from the Drugstore

I know what you’re thinking… perfume and cologne from the drugstore? Pass.

But wait, bear with me! Adam and I have both been using scents from the drugstore that are affordable, but don’t smell or look cheap… because they’re designer!

I had no idea until recently that CVS started carrying designer fragrances, and at friendly prices too. They’d be a great gift idea when your budget is tight but you want to impress someone special, or if you decide to treat yourself on your next toiletries-turned-beauty drugstore run.

I’ve been wearing the Vera Wang Embrace Eau de Toilette Spray in Green Tea & Pear Blossom. It’s crisp and bright with the perfect balance of floral and citrusy fruit scents, neither overpowering. Subtle notes of skin musk and sandalwood round out the fragrance and give it some depth. It’s a really pretty, refreshing scent that isn’t as warm as what I normally wear during fall and winter, but a nice change of pace when you want something a little more energizing. The 1 oz bottle is perfect for carrying with you and traveling, and only costs $29.99.

I’ve been loving when Adam reaches for his Adidas Born Original Eau de Toilette Spray (Also $29.99). I think it actually compliments my Vera Wang scent, since it’s also quite light with deeper floral scents like violet leaves and lavender that are cloaked in a spiciness provided by the black pepper, sage, cedarwood and sandalwood notes on the dry-down. The rhubarb at the top gives it a tanginess that’s invigorating. Again, this isn’t like Adam’s normal choice of deeper, muskier scents but it’s awesome for something light during a casual day out.

These are both impressive finds from CVS that even make us feel a little fancy! I was surprised at their price because they are both reputable brands. On top of that, CVS Beauty Club has pretty much the best point system/coupon system/regular sales so you probably won’t even have to pay full price on these… just last weekend they were BOGO 50% off!

What’s one gift you’ve given from the drugstore?

My husband loves peppery scents. I wouldn’t think of an Adidas scent for him, but I may have to check that out next time we’re at CVS!

These both sound like nice fragrances! I usually love scents with pear. It’s nice to find some great deals at the drugstore for quality fragrances.

I have got to get the the pharmacy and check out some fragrances. I keep buying two at a time and it gets expensive.

Wow – I need to go find this. I didn’t realize my CVS would have a “highend” fragrance section. I have only seen the replica scents.

I love CVS’ coupons but you have to check for the prices elsewhere since they are sometimes way higher than other stores. Drugstores are becoming much more high end than they used to.

How nice! I also noticed that drugstores carry more and more designer scents, pretty sure I’ve even seen one carry Burberry!

CVS and Walgreen’s both carry some designer fragrances and good prices. Around the holidays you can score good deals, especially if you use your rewards cards.

I always buy perfume from the drugstore, especially celebrity brands. My sister loves Vera I will let her know that this is now at the drugstore. If I can get some Marc Jacobs for cheap I will be happy heheh

There are great bargains to be had in the drugstore. Unfortunately none of my obscure indie or luxury brands are there, but I’m always on the hunt.
