I know what you’re thinking… perfume and cologne from the drugstore? Pass.
But wait, bear with me! Adam and I have both been using scents from the drugstore that are affordable, but don’t smell or look cheap… because they’re designer!
I had no idea until recently that CVS started carrying designer fragrances, and at friendly prices too. They’d be a great gift idea when your budget is tight but you want to impress someone special, or if you decide to treat yourself on your next toiletries-turned-beauty drugstore run.
I’ve been wearing the Vera Wang Embrace Eau de Toilette Spray in Green Tea & Pear Blossom. It’s crisp and bright with the perfect balance of floral and citrusy fruit scents, neither overpowering. Subtle notes of skin musk and sandalwood round out the fragrance and give it some depth. It’s a really pretty, refreshing scent that isn’t as warm as what I normally wear during fall and winter, but a nice change of pace when you want something a little more energizing. The 1 oz bottle is perfect for carrying with you and traveling, and only costs $29.99.
I’ve been loving when Adam reaches for his Adidas Born Original Eau de Toilette Spray (Also $29.99). I think it actually compliments my Vera Wang scent, since it’s also quite light with deeper floral scents like violet leaves and lavender that are cloaked in a spiciness provided by the black pepper, sage, cedarwood and sandalwood notes on the dry-down. The rhubarb at the top gives it a tanginess that’s invigorating. Again, this isn’t like Adam’s normal choice of deeper, muskier scents but it’s awesome for something light during a casual day out.
These are both impressive finds from CVS that even make us feel a little fancy! I was surprised at their price because they are both reputable brands. On top of that, CVS Beauty Club has pretty much the best point system/coupon system/regular sales so you probably won’t even have to pay full price on these… just last weekend they were BOGO 50% off!
