You’ll Fall Head Over Heels for the Flower Beauty Bitten Lip Stains

My preferences in lip products have dramatically changed over the past few years, opting more for comfort than longevity in most cases. However, when a product can deliver both— that’s a big win! It’s no wonder the Flower Beauty Bitten Lip Stains became an instant favorite in my collection soon after discovering them.

The Flower Beauty Bitten Lip Stains are $10 with six shades currently available— mostly pinks and reds. They apply like a gloss, settling down with a slightly shiny finish, while staining your lips underneath for a longer lasting effect.

These cruelty-free lip stains are water-based and have a gel-like texture that feels moisturizing and doesn’t feather. The fluffy doe-foot applicator deposits a good amount of color precisely, though I do feel like it can sometimes focus the pigment toward the lip line if you’re not applying even pressure.

The current shades are (left to right):

  • Coy– light, warm coral
  • Sweet– warm berry
  • Sass – light purple
  • Play – dusty rose/berry
  • Saucy– hot pink
  • Tempt– brick red

As you can see, some shades apply more sheer than others. Sass and Coy are particularly on the sheer side whereas Saucy and Tempt pack a lot of pigmentation. With that, the lighter shades leave less of a tint and the deeper ones provide a longer lasting stain.

While you wear them, they feel incredibly lightweight with virtually no transfer while drinking or eating.

Above, you can see Saucy freshly applied, and then a few hours later after eating soup (constant contact with the spoon). While the color is faded, it remains pretty even and noticeable. Keep in mind, this isn’t a liquid lipstick. The tint left behind is the intended effect and I think this product delivers on its claims.

Tips to achieve the most even and long lasting stain include exfoliating your lips prior to application, and applying two even layers of the product. When applying, finish an entire layer at a time before building up the color.

Once the color is faded, you also lose the glossy finish. However, the even stain still makes me feel “done” without rushing to reapply. If you do choose to reapply, though, you can do so easily without patchiness. In general, these have been the best lip stains I’ve ever tried because they stay so even throughout wear when others do not.

I’ve been reaching for these every single time I go out, especially for dinner dates. I can trust the color isn’t going to end up smudged or horribly patchy, while staying comfortable and hydrating on the lips.

You can find the Flower Beauty Bitten Lip Stains at Ulta for $9.99.
