As you may have noticed, I’ve been doing a lot of traveling lately, and it’s all very exciting. But, there’s obviously one part that can be a little mudane: the actual traveling part. From long road trips to long plane and train rides, it can be physically and mentally exhausting. There is only so much in-flight entertainment to keep your mind off of the fact that you’re squished against the stranger next to you and all the food is ridiculously expensive and bad.

My upcoming trip to Israel? Yeah, fourteen and a half hours on a plane. It’s a little more bearable when I visit my mom by train— only six hours, but time to fill nonetheless. I try not to rely on my phone for entertainment, because I want to have a full battery when I hit my destination, but both my laptop and my iPad seriously weigh me down. They also require me to bring my clunky bag so that I’ll have room for them and all my other travel must-haves, and they’re awkward to maneuver in my small seat.

So as soon as I got my hands on the Amazon Fire Tablet, I knew it was this fashionista’s best friend in staying entertained— and connected— while traveling. Thin and portable, the 7” display is just big enough to read, watch movies, or play games but small enough to stash in my every day purse. It comes in four colors, letting you add your own little flare to your tech, and you can add a slim case to protect it and add even more color. I have the black tablet for simplicity, but decorate it with a magenta cover.

My favorite travel pastime is reading, so I usually load up several books onto my Fire tablet both for the commute as well as any downtime during vacation. But one of the most useful features of the tablet is that it connects to my Amazon Prime account flawlessly, and I can download all of my Prime Video movies and tv-shows for offline streaming. This definitely comes in handy when I have a weak or no wifi signal on the road and throughout my trip. With a seven hour battery life, I can watch at least three movies, or probably read three books, straight. You can download all your favorite apps, and even use a microSD card to give yourself more storage— up to 128 GB.

The Fire tablet also gives me free unlimited Amazon cloud storage for all of the photos I take while traveling. I’ve had my fair share of “There is not enough available storage to…” messages while abroad, and they are a real wet blanket when trying to capture a moment. I mean, we all know how many takes are needed to get the perfect selfie or outfit shot.

Since the Fire tablet can fit in my every day purse, and even some of my clutches, I can bring it with me everywhere when I’m on vacation for downtime, off-the-cuff photos, chatting with friends and staying entertained. I know it’s going to come in very handy when I’m at the beach in Israel, catching some rays and relaxing into a good book.

The best part? It’s only $49.99 on Amazon. It’s definitely the most affordable tablet that I’ve owned, but the one I reach for the most because of its portability and sleekness.

That tablet is cute. I used to carry around my iPad but my iPhone 6+ is big enough that I just use that instead.

I don’t own a tablet. My husband has an ipad that I never get to use because our daughter is always on it. But, I’d use it to read also.

Wow, love the price! I remember when tablets first came out they were crazy expensive.

I’d love to own one. I do have an iPad mini though so I’d feel guilty buying even at that low price.

I love my Fire, I’ve had it for 4-5 years so it’s time to upgrade–it’s not HD & doesn’t have a camera.

I thought about getting a Fire, but I already have a Kindle Paperwhite and an iPad. Still, I do like to collect electronics….

That sounds like a great deal, and I’ve thought about getting one. But I am trying to consolidate. I have a iPhone, desktop, laptop, 2nd generation Kindle and 2nd generation iPad both of which can no longer be updated and I have to pay to get rid of them. Ugh. I want one device. So I’m waiting for the iPhone 7 Plus and that’ll be my single on-the-go device. Have a great trip to Israel! how exciting!
