BH Cosmetics Laviedunprince Palette Review & Swatches

I’ve always been a loud and proud fan of BH Cosmetics, but even I wasn’t prepared for the Laviedunprince palette. With 12 eyeshadows, we get a mostly matte color story with a great mix of soft neutrals and bright colors for a ton of versatility. At first, I was apprehensive and wasn’t sure if it was going to be a wearable addition to my collection… but I was wrong!

The palette is conveniently split into a neutral top half and a bold bottom half. I love that they organized the shades like this, as it personally helps me visualize what can mix and match easily. As mentioned, this is a mostly matte palette with two shimmer shades to help highlight and add a pop. Don’t be fooled though, this palette isn’t lacking in the least bit.

First off, I don’t think I’ve ever felt shadows this buttery from BH Cosmetics, ever. Not sure if this is a new formula or what, but these are so smooth, and it’s easy to pick up a lot of product. It’s important to note that there are six pressed pigment shades that are “not intended for use around the immediate eye area,” but we all know how that goes– they may cause sensitivity and staining. These shades are Migrate, 1992, Monarch, Lavied, Sueno and Cocoon. I did experience slight staining with Lavied upon removal at night with a wipe, but it was gone by morning.

The eyeshadows and pressed pigments alike deliver impressive pigmentation. We get stronger color payoff than my other favorite colorful palette from BH, Take Me Back to Brazil. I think I may have been most shocked by Cielo, a bright blue that I did not expect to translate as intensely as it looks in the pan.

What I love about this palette is that you can create full looks using exclusively the bright colors, just the neutral colors, or mix and match of course. What I mean is, there is enough tonal variety (obvious highlight, lid, and crease shades) to create dimension from both shade ranges. I was initially nervous that there wasn’t a deep enough neutral for my skin tone, but Koko applies slightly darker than it looks in the pan, just enough so to use in my crease and outer corner.

The BH Cosmetics Laviedunprince palette is definitely a win, whether you want an easy everyday look or bold statement shadow. Great for traveling to have all your options with you, or to add to a small collection for staple shades.
