August 2014 Boxycharm Review

    August 2014 Boxycharm Review

What is this unfamiliar creature that has settled into my mailbox? It’s my very first Boxycharm box! Boxycharm is a beauty subscription box that sends five name-brand, full size items to you each month for $21/month. This is different from the cheaper boxes since you never get skimped with small samples, and you’re more likely to receive a box value that far exceeds what you paid.

The theme for the August 2014 Boxycharm box is “Beach Babe.” Watch my unboxing video for a closer look at each product.

    Unboxing & Product Descriptions:

    Product Breakdown:

    1. Enter Pronoun BLOWTORCH Bronzer (Retail: $35)

This water resistant bronzer looks great for giving the face an all-over bronzy glow. It’s much too warm for me for contouring, but could definitely add some color.

    2. Tarina Tarantino Conditioning Lip Sheen in Floriculture (Retail: $22)
I’m loving this shade! I can’t wait for fall to officially begin so I can rock it… oh who am I kidding? I’m not waiting that long! This berry shade has purple undertones and feels so balmy and moisturizing. An all around win.

    3. ModelCo Cheek + Lips Cheek & Lip Tint in Rosy Red (Retail: $22)

When I’m wearing statement lipstick or eyeshadow, I keep the cheeks subtle. I’ve been using a sample size of this cheek/lip tint for that purpose! The texture is a bit gelatinous and wet (but lightweight), but it blends into the skin easily and leaves a very natural flush of color.

    4. Morphe Brushes Powder Brush (Retail: $19.99)

I don’t think I’ve ever received a makeup brush in a subscription box before! I’ve heard of Morphe but have never tried their products, and this brush is soooo soft. It’s also dense, so it’d be great at applying both blush or powder foundation. I’m adding it to my prize for the 2k Giveaway, so enter now if you haven’t already!

    5. OFRA Cosmetics Eyeliner in Black (Retail: $13)

You can never go wrong with a classic black eyeliner pencil. This one isn’t very soft, but it still applies smoothly and with deep black pigmentation. Judging by how hard it was to get the swatch off my arm, this probably has impressive wear time.

    Total Value: $111.99

I think it goes without saying that I’m pretty wow-ed by my first selection from Boxycharm! I love that it was all makeup products and the variety is spot on— I can almost create a complete look from the items I received (just missing mascara!). I’m definitely looking forward to future boxes to try out more well-known brands that I haven’t been able to get my hands on.

Check out Boxycharm on their website.

Do you think that the several extra dollars per month is worth getting all full sized products?

    1. I should add I don’t care for julep cuz I don’t think it’s worth the high value they claim. And customer service is bad I found.

    2. I love my boxy charm over julep and birch box , I feel like I actually use these products and enjoy adding them to my collection vs small samples of a lot brands I will likely not purchase. Boxy charm win!
