7 Vampy & Bold Drugstore Lipsticks for Fall | Fall Drugstore Lipstick Swatches | Slashed Beauty

I love a vampy and bold lipstick— especially to make a statement during the fall season. Not only is a deeper shade dramatic and sometimes sultry, but it can carry an entire look without needing too much else on the eyes or face (aka, you can make it look like you tried really hard with just a daring lip!).

Here are some of my favorite bold drugstore lipsticks for fall in both liquid and bullet style, matte and glossy. There’s bound to be a pick that you like!

7 Vampy & Bold Drugstore Lipsticks for Fall | Deep Drugstore Lipstick Swatches | Slashed Beauty

1. Covergirl Exhibitionist Matte Lipstick in Watch Me
Deep brown is a favorite go-to shade of mine, bringing all the 90s vibes. The Exhibionist Ultra Matte Lipstick formula glides on with a slick feel, drenching your lips in opaque color in one swipe. They dry down to a flat, classic matte finish… and a matte finish feel. They’re not particularly drying, but if your lips are already in need of TLC, they probably won’t feel awesome wearing this. The good news is, the formula is pretty transfer-proof and you’ll see subtle and even fading throughout the day. You can check out my swatches of the other shades in this collection in my post here.

2. Essence This is Nude Lipstick in Enough
An awesome budget find at just $3.99, this lipstick is creamy and pigmented. The finish is satin (not too matte but not too glossy), and the shade Enough is a medium brownish red that’s very wearable and versatile. This lipstick is so comfortable to wear, and gives my lips a smooth appearance with its creamy consistency. It’s not totally transfer-proof, but the color lasts for hours!

3. L’Oreal Signature Rouge Lip Color in I Captivate
One of my favorite low-maintenance lipsticks at the drugstore, this is a lip stain that is so lightweight, you might forget you’re wearing it. I Captivate is a cool plum berry— it applies slightly translucent but you can build it up to opaque color in a few layers. Check out the rest of the shades in this collection in my post here— there are a few more deep and vampy shades to try!

4. Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit in So Noir Cool
Hear me out— black lipstick is NOT just for Halloween. Yes, it’s intimidating but oh, how chic it can look with a fresh face of light makeup! The Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit in So Noir Cool is the best option at the drugstore— a lightweight, matte liquid lipstick that goes on even, opaque, and super inky. It’s fairly long lasting but you may need to touch up at the center of your lips, and it’s easy to layer this formula.

5. Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in Voyager
If you’re looking for a perfect burgundy liquid lipstick, this is the one! It’s not too red, not too brown. The pointed applicator makes for precise application and clean lip lines. We all know how raved about the Super Stay Matte Ink formula is— it’s one of the longest wearing liquid lipsticks at the drugstore. Again, you get a classic matte feel, so be sure to moisturize ahead of time for the best results.

6. Hard Candy Glitteratzi Crystal Lip Duo in Black Diamonds
Another adventurous lipstick shade choice, Black Diamonds is a black lipstick that is chalk full of blue and purple iridescent glitter. It is very glam, very eye catching, and extremely sparkly. The Glitteratzi Lip Duos have a lipstick on one end, and a matching lipgloss on the other. You can use them separately or layered (as I’ve done in the photo). Alone, the lipstick is creamy with a satin finish, and the gloss adds a nice pop of shine and enhances the shimmer.

7. Revlon Super Lustrous The Luscious Matte Lipstick in Black Cherry
A drugstore classic, Black Cherry is a staple berry shade that’s ever so slightly more warm/reddish than #3. This shade looks great across many skin tones, but there’s one thing you have to consider: while this formula glides on smoothly and feels balmy upon application, the pigment will catch on any dry patches. You can see a few darker spots in my swatch, which is where I have dryness on my own lips. I suggest exfoliating and moisturizing the lips before you apply. This formula is super long lasting, gives you a bit of a stain, and feel really lightweight. Check out the rest of the shades in this collection in my post here.

The Wet N Wild MegaLast Lip Color in Cherry Bomb is almost the exact same shade of the NYC Mahogany, but more matte!

Ooh, thanks, Jules!! The NYC UltraMoist lipsticks have been discontinued so I’ll definitely want a good alternative for when I run out of Mahogany 🙂

I have NYC Mahogany and WnW Vamp It Up… honestly I have a bit of trouble applying Mahogany evenly, but I love Vamp It Up. It makes a nice alternative to black lipstick because it’s bold but not as harsh, if that makes sense.

I find that exfoliating prior to applying Mahogany makes the world of a difference.

Thank you for these great swatches! I have been on the hunt for a wine lipstick which is not a shade I would usually wear. So I’ve been hesitating, and I don’t want to spend a lot in case it’s a fail. I love the look of the NYC Mahogany and Revlon Black Cherry. Now I know what to look for 🙂

I’d like to note that my lips are naturally pretty pigmented and Mahogany shows up a lot darker on my lips than Katie’s! Check out my FOTD post in the related posts section!

I will read it, Miranda! But I had to return something to CVS this afternoon, and for 99 cents, I decided to take a chance on it lol. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll gift it or throw it away! 😉 I figured it was worth a try at that price, whereas the other one I liked, Revlon’s black cherry cost almost $10 so I chose the cheaper one

I’m yet to get on the vampy lip wagon. I tend to stick to version of dusty rose. Of late, though, I’ve made myself move to coral. It’s a start!

Coral is one of my favorite lip colors to wear 🙂 especially during springtime!

A year and a half ago I would’ve cringed at the thought of wearing purple lipstick – you definitely have to give yourself an adjustment period!

I love vamp it up and va va violet. Mahogany reminds me a little of mac diva, and Ferguson reminds me of mac rebel.

I love Ferguson Crest Cabernet so much more as a dupe for Rebel then WNW’s Sugar Plum Fairy!
